Suffolk Construction Announces "Rebuild the Ratio" Initiative to Improve Inclusionary Hiring
In response to the City of Boston's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiative (DEI), Suffolk Construction has announced its "Rebuild the Ratio" initiative to include women and girls as part of its hiring outreach. The firm launched the partnership with the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts, with Suffolk pledging a new "Construction 101" course aimed at girls between middle and high school.
Last week Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and BPDA Chief of Planning Arthur Jemison announced the DEI aimed at developers within the city to disclose their inclusivity policies. The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiative (DEI) will require developers to disclose the details of the diversity of their development teams on any project larger than 20,000 square-feet. The BPDA voted to implement the initiative with projects that receive Article 80 review.
