AC Hotel by Marriott Harbour Island Update 12/13/22

Tampa City Council Will Hold Public Hearing for Harbour Island Hotel

The Tampa City Council will hold a public hearing on Thursday, December 15 to consider the proposal for an AC Hotel by Marriott on Harbour Island.  The developer, Punit Shah CEO of Liberty Group, revised the plans after the council rejected the original proposal May 2022. Following the rejection in May, Shah filed a lawsuit against the city. The lawsuit was put on hold when the revised plans were submitted and taken under review by the city council. The revised plans call for a 10-story hotel with 145 rooms, smaller than the original property which would have been 12 stories with 180 rooms.  The number of parking spaces was dropped from 288 to 115. The AC Hotel by Marriott would be within walking distance of downtown Tampa, Amalie Arena, the Tampa Convention Center, Sparkman’s Wharf and other downtown attractions.
