The Rector Building Gets Final Landmark Approval

The Commission on Chicago Landmarks has approved the Rector Building at 79 W. Monroe in the Loop for final landmark status. Built in 1905, it’s one of the oldest surviving early commercial high-rises designed by Jarvis Hunt. The building will be adapted for reuse, with 100,000 square feet of upper floors (7-13) converted into 117 residential units. Plans also include 2,000 square feet of retail space, a fitness center, and a large rooftop terrace.
