Updated Plans for Old Town Development Include Traffic Improvements and New Design Features

Updated plans have been released for a $250 million, mixed-use development at 1610 N LaSalle Drive in Old Town. In response to concerns from nearby residents about views, density, and traffic, the developer held a community meeting to present new plans that include roadway improvements. These include crosswalk bump-outs, turn-only lanes, optimized traffic signals, and bike lanes, all aimed at reducing traffic delays and improving pedestrian safety. The design also features a new motor court along LaSalle for parking and loading access, as well as a facade that reflects the neighborhood's signature metal arches. The development will include 500 residential units, with 100 affordable, and 450 parking spaces—300 for a nearby church and 150 for residents.
