Updated Plans Presented for Dorchester Bay City: Residential Units Increased
The development team behind the massive Dorchester Bay City project has filed updated plans for the 36+ acre waterfront site.
Changes include...
- Reduction in total square footage by approximately 350,000 square feet
- The proposed 112,000+ square foot residential Building A has been eliminated, allowing for a larger open space near the Dorchester Shores Reservation and the waterfront.
- An increase of 12,500 square feet of community and cultural space
- The building program for Building V1 has been changed from office/research uses to residential uses in order to create more residential units at the 2 Morrissey Site. The total planned number of residential units is now 1,957.
- A new, approximately 3.5-acre open space to be called Dorchester Green and Dorchester Bay Esplanade has been added to the project that will be tree-lined and contain a children’s playground as well as flexible lawn space.
- To meet climate resiliency goals, a portion of the raised ridge proposed has been relocated landward onto the project site, with the ridge crest now to be built on the Bayside Site and this ridge will be constructed as part of Phase 1 of the Project.
