Waldorf Astoria Residences in Downtown St. Petersburg Moving Forward
The developers of the Waldorf Astoria Residences in downtown St. Petersburg cleared the first hurdle in the approval process. The St. Petersburg City Council, acting as the Community Redevelopment Agency, gave unanimous approval to the project. The development must now be approved by the city council in its formal capacity and will approval from the Federal Aviation due to the proximity to Albert Whited Airport. The tower, which will be the first five-star luxury hotel branded condominium development in St. Petersburg, will rise on the site of the current parking garage for the City Center office building. One of the features of the new design is rooftop pools on the upper floors, likely reserved for penthouse owners. The 49-story tower will feature 164 one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom floor plans. In addition, the building will include 11,000 square feet of ground level retail space, with several floors of parking above the retail space and 86,000 square feet of Class A office space on floors above the parking garage and below the residences. Sales are expected to launch later in 2024, with construction slated for the second half of 2025. Construction is expected to take at least two years, with completion in late 2027 or early 2028.
