Wardman Park Hotel To Be Sold as Owner Files for Bankruptcy
Wardman Hotel Owner LLC has filed a Chapter 11 bankruptcy petition and plans to sell the historic Washington Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. The historic 1,152-room hotel originally opened in 1918. The property features 95,000 square feet of event space along with 95,000 square feet of exhibit space. "The hotel has struggled to remain profitable due to a number of factors, including consistent and growing competition in the greater Washington area, including competition generated by other Marriott properties, and Marriott's failure to act as a reasonable and prudent operator of the hotel," James Decker, Manager of Wardman Hotel Owner LLC wrote in the court filing.
