New Restaurant Openings Highlight Burlington as Food Destination
Island Creek Oyster Bar and Pressed Café will provide tenants with high quality, local food options
Burlington, Mass., (November 7, 2016) – The District Burlington announced today the opening of two new restaurant offerings as part of its redevelopment into a highly walkable, mixed-use destination where tenants find a range of amenities supporting collaborative and connected work space. The addition of Island Creek Oyster Bar and Pressed Café bring even more options to the bustling campus, offering anything but the traditional suburban experience.
Island Creek Oyster Bar (ICOB), opening on November 3 in The District Burlington, places seafood at the center of a collaboration joining farmer, chef and diner. Partners Chef Jeremy Sewall, Skip Bennett, Garrett Harker and Shore Gregory are set to open their second location following the groundbreaking Kenmore Square favorite. The New York-based firm Bentel & Bentel (The Modern, Eleven Madison Park, Gramercy Tavern) conceptualized the design for the restaurant. Much as they did with the Boston space, the stunning natural attributes of Duxbury Bay and the Island Creek Oyster Farm are woven into the physical elements of the restaurant, which includes Gabion cages filled with tens of thousands of cleaned oyster shells that make up a massive, three-dimensional wall. Island Creek Oyster Bar includes 165 seats plus three dynamic private dining spaces in a sit-down experience.
“We’re delighted to open our second location at The District Burlington, where we’re joining a thriving restaurant community,” said Shore Gregory of Island Creek Oyster Bar. “Chef Jeremy Sewall’s lunch and dinner menu will highlight the incredible farmers and fisherman that we work with, while Jackson Cannon’s beverage program will be a draw for the after-work crowd.”
Opening later in November, Pressed Café will offer a more casual atmosphere for tenants that is in line with The District Burlington’s commitment to providing flexible spaces to gather, work and play. With menu offerings emphasizing fresh and local ingredients, the 150-seat eatery provides a healthy option with the flexibility to grab your food and go.
“At The District Burlington we have the opportunity to expand our reach within a new, food-oriented community,” says Roi Shpindler, owner of Pressed Café. “Our second location will foster connection and collaboration over fresh, clean food and local, micro-roasted coffee.”
“Quality food offerings are just one part of the amenity package that is a huge draw at The District Burlington,” said Andrew Gallinaro, senior vice president, director of asset management at National Development. “We recognize that high quality, diverse and healthy food options are key to a well-rounded work experience, whether hosting a business lunch or grabbing a quick bite to go with friends, The District offers lots of food and entertainment options just steps away from your desk.”
The addition of Island Creek Oyster Bar and Pressed Café will bring the total number of seats to 2,000 at The District Burlington at full build out, or 2 dining seats for every 3 employees at The District, where restaurant options include Tuscan Kitchen and Market, Tavern on the Square and Rebecca’s Café, with more to be announced in 2017.
