Twining Properties to Create 285 Apartments, Local Retail and Open Space

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Jan. 25, 2017 -- The City of Cambridge Planning Board last night approved a transformative development proposal in Central Square by Twining Properties that will add 285 units of mixed-income housing at the intersection of Mass + Main in Central Square.

“Mass+Main will create a vibrant new walkable urban place in Central Square lined with shops and restaurants and providing apartments for singles to families of all ages and incomes overlooking Jill Rhone Park," said Alex Twining, CEO of Twining Properties.

The development, called Mass+Main, consists of two signature buildings designed by CBT Architects: one fronting on Massachusetts Avenue and the other on Columbia Street.

Mass+Main will be a highly sustainable, transit-oriented development with a LEED Gold certification and a green lifestyle. The project will include 20 percent low- and moderate-income units spread across the three buildings. The development will also provide new public walkways that connect bustling Massachusetts Avenue with the residential neighborhood that surrounds it.

Construction is expected to begin this summer. For more information go to
