The Monroe Street Market is a transformative 1 million square foot, $200 million dollar project by Abdo Development, Bozzuto Development and Pritzker Realty.
The mixed-use development adjacent to the Brookland Metro and south across Michigan Avenue from Catholic University. Incorporated in the development is a “village” expanding Brookland’s 12th Street retail corridor and running along Monroe Street between Michigan Avenue & 8th Street with 80k+ SF of ground floor retail on both sides of Monroe with residential apartments above. The project is expected to produce 763 one and two bedroom apartments. At Monroe and Michigan Avenue, a square is planned to provide a gathering space, the design includes a fountain, moveable café furniture, and clock tower. At the eastern end of Monroe Street, a pedestrian-only Arts Walk and Plaza connects Monroe Street with the Brookland Metro station entrance. The Arts Walk will be filled with 27 ground floor artist studios, featuring glass roll-up garage doors. The Arts Walk will end at an open plaza featuring in-ground fountains and a performance stage.
