Developer Urban Investment Properties will convert the Boathouse - a 10-story property located in the West End’s vibrant and historic Foggy Bottom neighborhood. Originally the Howard Johnson Hotel, the building has since been transformed into a dormitory for George Washington University students. The now vacant property boasts a Walkscore of 97 and offers close proximity to the Foggy Bottom Metro station and Georgetown waterfront. The project - with 140,000 square feet of residential space and 5,000 of retail space - will turn the property into a mixed-use building with 254 apartments and 5,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor. Construction is slated for completion in July of 2019.
