Permit Details: ARE-MA Region No. 40, LLC (Alexandria) will be mobilizing its new 50 Binney Street project in Cambridge in July 2014. Presently, the buildings are a core & shell with a lab and office program. The project site is located and bounded by Binney Street to the north, First Street to the east, Linskey Way to the south and Second Street to the west. Presently the site is now being used as a surface parking lot and staging area for a nearby construction project. The project consists of approximately 907,000 gross square feet (GSF) building area; or a Gross Floor Area (GFA) of approximately 470,000 square feet. 10 occupied levels above grade plus mechanical levels and 6 levels of below grade parking. The building will be a slurry wall foundation, post tension concrete slabs for the garage below grade, a steel frame structure with concrete slabs on metal deck. The exterior façade will include glass windows, rain-screen wall systems, metal panels and louvers. Separate elevators banks will service the below grade parking levels and the above grade tenant floors. The project is targeted to be LEED Silver at a minimum.

Permit Details: Turner Construction is look for an Enabling permit to commence construction activities at 50 Binney Street on July 1st, 2014. The work will start with the installation of jersey barriers for site containment along with clearing the site of all above grade obstructions. Pretreating of existing soils will take place once the site is enclosed, followed by pretrenching efforts for guide walls and LBEs. The Enabbling portion of scope will then conclude with forming and pouring guide walls for the upcoming slurry wall operation.
