The Leesburg Town Council has approved the redevelopment plan at Virginia Village redevelopment of the Virginia Village Shopping Center. The six-story mixed-use development of 643 residences, green space and roughly 165,000 sq. ft. of retail and office space. The project promises to take the 1960s-era shopping center and parking lot into a pedestrian friendly community. Due to worries about the density of the buildings, Keane Enterprises increased the number of parking units by 95 spaces, creating 1.25 parking spaces per one-bedroom unit. There will also be 20 electric vehicle charging spaces. While a timeline has not been announced, the redevelopment could take up to 10 years, a representative said at a previous meeting.
