The NME Project is a regional sewer upgrade project. The existing sewer pipelines in Bellevue run below the ordinary high water mark of Lake Washington (i.e., below the lakebed) across the East Channel, along the Enatai Shoreline, and up Mercer Slough before terminating at Sweyolocken Pump Station within the Mercer Slough Nature Park. Most of the pipelines were constructed in the 1950s and 1960s, and are reaching the end of their life expectancy.
