1.6M SF Innovation Campus Planned in Union Square
Rafi Properties has presented a Master Plan for the expansion of the 7.4-acre Somernova campus in Somerville's Union Square. Over the next 10 years, the developer hopes to add 1.6 million square feet of industrial research and development as well as creative office space. The total cost of this comprehensive Campus Expansion project is estimated at $3,300,000,000. The project will introduce new building types designed for Tough Tech activities and higher density as part of a multi-phase development consisting of four blocks and four phases. The proposed program includes 1.4 M SF of commercial space to support various aspects of the innovation ecosystem, 68,000 SF of neighborhood retail, and 25,000 SF for the youth-driven, multigenerational community center.
