20 Mass: Integrating the Best of Green, Wellness and Tech-Forward Design
Upon completion in early 2023, 20 Mass will be a state-of-the-art mixed-use destination with 183,000 square feet of office space, a 271-key luxury Royal Sonesta hotel, and just under 14,000 square feet of retail including chef-driven restaurants and 14,500 square feet amenities penthouse. The $200M project has been designed by Leo A. Daily Architects and is being directed by the RMR Group.
20 Mass Ave’s groundbreaking design minimizes carbon emissions and maximizes energy efficiency in many innovative ways including:
- Preserving the building’s existing structural skeleton, significantly reducing emissions associated with the extraction, manufacturing, and transport of building materials.
- Prefabricating guest rooms, minimizing construction waste and accelerating construction
- Developing a 14,500 square-foot open-air amenities penthouse and green roof that passively captures rainwater, reducing water consumption by 40 percent.
- Installing high-performance glazing, contributing to more than a 20 percent reduction in estimated energy consumption.
From its ultra-convenient tenant experience app to its dedicated EV parking and charging stations, 20 Mass will also offer all the latest technology to recognize and reflect the expectations of those who will work, visit and enjoy the space. Even the project website features an innovative design that reflects cutting-edge technology utilized throughout this transformative redevelopment.
