2390 McDonald Avenue Proposal Enters Public Review

An application proposing an 8-story, mixed-use development, at 2390 McDonald Avenue in Brooklyn's Gravesend neighborhood, is now being reviewed by the Community Board. This is a significant milestone as it marks the beginning of the public review process. Developed by , the proposed development would contain square feet of residential space, divided between units. Included in this count, the building would offer 24 affordable housing units. In addition to the residential component, the structure would have square feet of retail space, located on the ground floor. Plans also call for an enclosed, basement-level parking garage, capable of storing vehicles. The building would stand feet tall and total square feet altogether.

The new development will require a rezoning of 2390 McDonald and three neighboring commercial properties from a C8-1 district to a C4-4L. The proposed C4-4L district would facilitate a higher density and permit residential use in what will become a predominantly residential area. Zoning map and text amendments have been requested as a result. The main building, currently occupying the project site, is a 1-story car wash. This would have to be demolished in order to make way for the new development, but the other rezoned properties would remain untouched.
