29-Story Mixed-Use Tower Begins to Rise in Jersey City

General contractor, , has started to form the concrete superstructure of a 29-story, mixed-use tower project, going up at 626 Summit Avenue in Jersey City's Journal Square neighborhood.

Developed by , and dubbed "Singh Tower", the building is set to contain residential units, offered in studio, and one to three-bedroom configurations (it will have a single four-bedroom unit as well).

Tenant amenities are to include a fitness center, a roof deck, a tenant lounge, and parking for 62 bicycles. Plans also call for square feet of office space and 2 ground-floor retail units, spanning square feet combined.

A set of stairs at the side of the building will provide access to "The Bergen Arches", an abandoned stretch of below-grade railway line, which is earmarked to become a public park. The rear of the building will then have a public seating area overlooking the park.

Designed by , the structure will ultimately top out at feet tall and it will total square feet altogether.

Singh Tower is being constructed on the northern edge of the Journal Square 2060 Redevelopment Area. The project site is alternately addressed as 622-628 Summit Avenue because the property previously consisted of 4-separate lots, which were combined and rezoned.
