8-Story Affordable Housing Project Rises in Far Rockaway
Masonry supplier, King Contracting Group NY, recently shared photos of the current construction progress at 13-12 Beach Channel Drive; an 8-story, mixed-use residential project, going up in Far Rockaway, Queens.
is overseeing construction at the top level, and is now about halfway to topping out the building's concrete slab and cinderblock skeleton.
Jointly developed by Bowery Residents Committee (BRC), and Camber Property Group, the development will be known as "Beach Channel Apartments". It will feature affordable housing units, as well as 100 shelter units for the formerly homeless.
Tenant amenities are to include a community room, a bicycle storage area, and outdoor recreational spaces. Plans also call for an open parking area, with enough room for vehicles.
Designed by , the structure will stand feet tall and total square feet upon completion. Construction is estimated to cost $97 million, and work is expected to finish by January of 2025.
