Excavation Underway for Norwood Affordable Project

Drilling and excavation work are now in full swing at the site of an 11-story, residential building, set to rise at 3095 Webster Avenue in the Bronx's Norwood neighborhood.

Developed by , the structure will contain apartments, with around 60 percent of these slated to become supportive housing units, and the remaining 40 percent to be designated as affordable housing.

The building will have a cellar level and a number of tenant amenities. It will also boast energy-efficient systems, including rooftop solar panels and energy-saving appliances that will help it to exceed green certification requirements. Designed by , 3095 Webster Avenue will stand feet tall and total square feet.

Prior to the start of construction, two single-family houses were demolished in order to make room for the new development. Financing for the project was issued by Merchants Bank of Indiana, in the form of a $38.5 million loan. This sum is being used to fund all construction costs from the ground up. The J. Pilla Group is serving as the project's general contractor, and work is estimated to finish by August of 2024.
