250 Water Street (Seaport District) Update 10/11/21

Further Progress for Proposed Seaport District Development

A Final Environmental Impact Statement has been submitted for a proposed development at 250 Water Street in the Seaport Historic District. At this time, the main application, submitted by 250 Seaport District LLC, has also been reviewed by the City Planning Commission (CPC). The application requests ULURP actions to facilitate a mixed-use tower with 270-residential units. The 324-foot tall tower is being developed by The Howard Hughes Corporation and a vote by the CPC is expected soon. Thus far the proposal has not been popular with the community despite receiving approval from the NYC Landmark Preservation Commission. This prompted a major building redesign, which still hasn't managed to curb heavy backlash from the local, Seaport Coalition.
