Gateway Jax Moving Closer to Breaking Ground

Gateway Jax, which will span 20+ city blocks in downtown Jacksonville’s North Core district, has cleared another hurdle. The Downtown Development Review Board (DDRB), an entity of the Downtown Investment Authority (DIA), gave unanimous approval for three blocks of the project. The city council will review the development in early 2024, and with approval the project will move into permitting. Plans for the initial phase include the development of three buildings that will offer 1,000+ multifamily units, more than 120,000 square feet of grocery-anchored retail, and a variety of new public spaces that encourage community interaction. Gateway Jax expects to break ground on its first developments in mid-2024, with the total build-out of current sites estimated at $2+ billion over the next decade.
