Georgetown University to Acquire The Darth Vader Building
Georgetown University is finalizing a contract with the owner of 111 Massachusetts Avenue NW, Jemal’s Darth Vader L.L.C. to acquire the property with the school filing zoning paperwork requesting a modification of consequence to authorize university use of the property. Georgetown expects to close on the property in October and would like to begin immediately using portions of the building while beginning renovations. The existing 8-story office building is currently unoccupied with approved plans calling for the construction of a 3-story addition to the building. The University will use the property for a mix of academic and administrative purposes. Per the filing, they have not yet determined whether (or when) they will proceed with plans for the addition.
