Tavistock North End Waterfront Development Site Update 11/18/17

Investor expands North End Waterfront holdings, plans future redevelopment

Tavistock Group, the Bahamian investment company that owns Joe’s American Bar & Grill, has acquired a 90% stake in 16,000 square feet of land on Commercial Wharf, next to the restaurant’s North End Waterfront location, for $10 million, resulting in a 25,000-square-foot (0.57-acre) site the proponent plans to redevelop. Tavistock’s site includes 100-104 Atlantic Avenue, 9,000 square feet of land home to the Joe's restaurant which the proponent acquired for over $5.6 million in 2011, and the newly acquired 16,000 square feet of land, located at 88-91 Commercial Wharf East, on which stands a burnt-out building. Tavistock plans a “complex redevelopment” of the site, which would include new public spaces and walkways along Commercial Wharf, as well as additional outbuildings whose density and uses have not been revealed. The site overlooks Boston Harbor and Christopher Columbus Park, and is located steps from the Financial District.
