Large Mixed-Use Development Granted Approval in Jersey City
The Jersey City Planning Board has just given the green light to a 13-story, mixed-use project at 96 Tonnele Avenue. The now-approved proposal comes as part of the Journal Square 2060 Redevelopment Plan, which seeks to create new transit-oriented development in the city's central business district, Journal Square.
Developed by , a residential component will make up the vast majority of the building, with units spanning from the 3rd to the 13th floor. These will primarily consist of market-rate rental apartments, although 20 units will be set aside for affordable housing.
Units will be offered in several configurations, ranging from studio to four-bedroom setups. Tenant amenities are to include a roof deck, a fitness center, and a swimming pool.
In addition to housing, the structure will have square feet of office space on the second floor, and square feet of ground-floor retail. Plans also call for an enclosed parking garage with room for cars and 108 bicycles.
Designed by , 96 Tonnele will stand feet tall and total square feet. A vacant, 2-story multi-family building first needs to be demolished in order to make way for the new development.
