Lidl Closes on Rockville Development Site for $13M
Lidl has acquired the 4+ acre site at 15931 Frederick Road in Rockville for $13,125,000. Plans call for the demolition of the former car dealership on the site and the construction of a new 30,000 square foot Lidl grocery store and a 191-unit multi-family building. Foundation Housing will develop the residential portion of the site and intends to call the residential building “The Henson at Shady Grove Metro” in honor of Josiah Henson, a former slave who lived in Rockville for over thirty years in the middle of the 19th century before escaping to emancipation in Canada.
