Mixed-Use Development in Overtown Gains Approval



Plans for a mixed-use development in Miami’s Overtown neighborhood that will encompass 1.8 million square feet have been unanimously approved by Miami’s Urban Development Review Board. The development will include 1,215 residential units, 16,347 square feet of commercial space and 1,831 parking spaces. The development will encompass over a million square feet of space. The residences will be contained in three 12-story buildings, a three-story apartment building and a nine-story parking garage that will include residential units. The community will be constructed in three phases and will offer a mix of workforce, market rate and affordable housing. The studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments will range in size from 465 to 1,517 square feet. The 8.3-acre site is located along NW 8th Street to the north and NW 6th Street to the south between NW 6th Avenue and NW 7th Avenue. Construction on the first phase, with approximately 537 units, is anticipated to begin in 2025.
