Northeastern Planning New Arena
Northeastern University is planning a new 290,000-square-foot athletics facility along St. Botolph Street as outlined in a Letter of Intent submitted to the City of Boston. The multi-purpose facility would include an arena for sporting events, a fieldhouse with multi-purpose turf, basketball courts, and other other accessory uses to support the University's broader fitness and recreation needs. Matthews Arena, currently on the site is the world's oldest arena in use for ice hockey and had originally served as home of the Boston Bruins.
