Plans Change Once Again for Redevelopment of Alexandra Hotel
In the works since 2018, redevelopment plans for the historic Alexandra Hotel at the corner of Washington Street and Massachusetts Avenue in Roxbury, have changed once again. The originally approved development consisted of retention and restoration of the façade of the historic building and the construction of a new 150-room, boutique hotel with a rooftop restaurant and bar. In July 2021, after COVID-19 essentially decimated the hotel industry the development team proposed a change from hotel use to 100+ residential units. Now given the financing market for residential construction the team is seeking the same approval it received in 2019 for a boutique hotel use.
