Plans Unveiled for 271 Units on Bethesda Parking Lots

Plans have been unveiled for two surface lots in Bethesda. Plans for the first parking lot include a complex with 224 rental units with an additional 47 on the second lot. There will be 45 units in the first building to be designated as affordable housing, with an additional 34 units will be rented at 70% of the area median income (AMI), and 11 will be at 50% AMI. Seven of the rentals from the second lot will be listed at 50% AMI, with a 70% reduction in condo fees. Chris Conklin, director of the Montgomery County Department of Transportation, said there were “several viable proposals” from companies interested in completing the project, but Broad Branch’s was “by far the most creative and returned the most benefits to the community.”
