Renovations & Addition Under Review for Hillsdale College Kirby Center
Hillsdale College has submitted plans to DC's Historic Preservation Review Board for renovations and addition to the Kirby Center along Massachusetts Avenue NE. Constructed in 1892, the building was originally three single-family townhouses that were converted to an office building in the 1970s. The 16,000-square-foot building houses a large lecture hall for public lectures, educational seminars, and congressional briefings; reception parlors, classrooms, a beautiful Americanist and liberal arts reading library and study space for Hillsdale students, and offices for the Hillsdale in D.C. faculty and staff. Plans now call for renovations to the existing buildings along with the addition of penthouses at 227 & 233-235 Massachusetts Avenue NE.
