Rockaway Storage Facility One Step Away From Approval
An application submitted by, RBB II LLC, for 106-02 Rockaway Beach Boulevard in Rockaway Beach, Queens is currently in review by the NYC Mayor's Office. The Mayor will have just 5 days to either approve the project or issue a veto. Mayoral Review is the final step in the public review process and is essentially the final stamp of approval. Ultimately, sometime between now and early next week, the fate of this project will be decided.
The application under review requests a zoning map amendment that would allow the development of a 6-story storage facility by an undisclosed developer. The facility would be 135,725 square feet and contain an 83-vehicle, sub-surface parking garage. A map amendment is necessary because the area is currently located in a residential zone. If approved, the land would be rezoned for commercial use, and five separate lots would be combined for the project.
