Work Progresses on Columbia's New Student Housing Tower
As general contractor, , wraps up the facade installation process, interior finishing is in full swing at 600 West 125th Street; a 34-story tower project in Upper Manhattan.
Developed by , across the street from the school's prestigious, Manhattanville campus, the building is set to contain apartments, which will house graduate students and faculty members.
Plans also call for community facilities, a cellar level, and 5,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space (which will be occupied by a McDonald's location that previously operated a stand-alone restaurant on the site).
Designed by executive architect, , and design architect, Renzo Piano Building Workshop (RPBW), the structure stands feet tall and totals square feet. The tower has been sustainably designed and the engineering team is aiming to achieve LEED v4.0 Gold certification. Construction is expected to wrap up sometime next year.
