Wu Names Former HUD Official as Chief of Planning
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu has appointed former Housing and Urban Development head James Arthur Jemison II as the newly created Chief of Planning for the City of Boston. Jemison II, who served under the Biden Administration as an official from HUD, will be the first in an executive position to lead the Boston Planning and Development Agency from outside the department.
Mayor Wu strongly supports structural and fundamental changes at the BPDA, and had ran on a campaign promise to abolish the agency in favor of a more transparent, administration-driven department. The move to hire Jemison II comes directly after BPDA Director Brian Golden announced his resignation.
