Zoning Approval Halted For 80-Story Miami Supertower
City Commissioner Joe Carollo moved to defer zoning approval for One Brickell City Center, a move which was unanimously approved by other commissioners. The zoning request was already approved by the commissioners in July, however, a second reading was required for the request.
The motion to defer came after Carollo consulted with his brother and former city commissioner, Frank Carollo, who suggested that a fire station might be necessary in the future. Joe Carollo plans to talk to the fire chief and union in assessing the necessity of a new station.
Designed by Arquitectonica, One Brickell City Center is planned to rise 1,040 feet, and would include nearly 2 million square feet of construction.
