Berkshire Innovation Center Celebrates Grand Opening
The Berkshire Innovation Center in Pittsfield celebrated its grand opening earlier this week. Governor Baker was on hand to cut the ribbon at the $14M facility which aims to promote and accelerate the growth of the life sciences supply chain and advanced manufacturing companies in Western Massachusetts. The 20,000+ square foot center includes training facilities, biotech wet lab space, clean rooms, office and event space for small to medium-sized life sciences.
In a press release from Mass.gov it has been announced that $13.7 million has been committed to launching the Berkshire Innovation Center (BIC), a project which has been delayed over the past few years. The Berkshire Innovation Center, Inc. (BIC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit created to promote and accelerate the innovation and growth of existing life sciences supply chain and advanced manufacturing companies in Western Massachusetts. BIC will assist companies by enabling early-stage production and commercialization, and by fostering shared research.
The project is slated to begin summer of 2018 with a July ofg 2019 completion target.
