About National Geographic Society Headquarters

A $250 million rehabilitation has been proposed for the National Geographic Society Headquarters. The campus remodel features a three-building block that serves as a headquarters, museum and event space which is called "Basecamp."
The headquarters was originally constructed in 1904. After multiple additions and renovations, the campus aims to update and upgrade the 587,600 square feet of space.
Plans include relocated the archives to be more accessible for researchers, increased space for an estimated hundred-thousdand students a year.
The office space will be reconfigured to be a hybrid-work environment, with more open spaces and technological updates throughout.
Renovations are anticipating a completion date of 2026.
