The Barry Farm redevelopment refers to a 34-acre community between Firth Sterling Avenue and Sumner Road SE. Proposed plans feature a redevelopment that would bring a variety of rental and for-sale housing styles, including townhouses, multi-family apartments, and stacked flats. Townhouses with detached two-story garages provide the option of bonus accessory dwelling units. The plan is for up to 1,110 residential units, and 55,000 square feet of retail and commercial space around a central park.

New connections will be made to neighborhood amenities, specifically the Anacostia Metro. 

The redevelopment aims to preserve public housing with a 1-for-1 replacement of existing units with affordable mixed-income rental and for-sale housing. There will also be 40,000 sqft of retail space with planned local hiring. There is an emphasis on sustainability with new roads, utilities, landscaping, and community facilities. 

The first building under construction is The Asberry, a mixed-used building with 108 units of housing slated for people ages 55 and older with about 5,000 square feet of commercial space.
