About 1529 18th Street NW
Washington, DC
22,340 square foot historic Dupont Circle office building originally constructed in 1903. Plans have been submitted for the adaptive use of former set of two abutting and connected townhouses, currently occupied by the Mathematics Association of America as offices, for use as a communal living facility for the University of Utah Orrin Hatch Center, providing congregate housing for approximately 50 students during their semester-long internship program. The scope of work includes interior renovation of the existing building, and additions to the 4th and 5th floors within the existing building footprint to provide new code-required egress stair and stretcher-compliant elevator to meet egress and accessibility requirements (and allow us to maintain original existing elliptical stair). The improvements allow for removal of all existing fire escapes and creation of an accessible route to the rear entry of the building. The existing floor area, not including the basement, is approximately 17,780 GSF; we are proposing to add approximately 1,100 SF within the existing footprint.
