17-Story Mixed-Use Project Breaks Ground in Gowanus
General contractor, , has broken ground on a 17-story, mixed-use project, set to rise at 544 Carroll Street in Brooklyn's Gowanus neighborhood.
Construction crews are beginning to excavate the lot and a drilling rig is on site to bore holes for the structure's foundation piles.
Last month, developer, , secured a $72.5 million loan from TD Bank. The capital is being used to fund all construction costs from the ground up.
Designed by , with interiors envisioned by Cl-oth Interiors, the new building is set to contain rental apartments, offered in one and two-bedroom configurations. Approximately 30% of these units will be reserved for affordable housing. Plans also call for square feet of ground-floor retail space.
Tenant amenities are to include a fitness center with a yoga room, an indoor swimming pool, an outdoor terrace, a courtyard, a resident lounge, a bicycle storage room, a general storage space, and a package room.
544 Carroll Street will eventually stand feet tall and total square feet. Construction is ultimately expected to complete in December of 2025.
