Boston City Councilor Calls to Abolish the BPDA
Michelle Wu, a potential candidate for the Mayor's office in 2021 and current Councilor at Large, is calling for the abolishment of Boston's Planning and Development Agency. In a 54-page report, Wu said, “The BPDA gives concentrated control over development to the Mayor of Boston with little to no accountability, giving well-connected developers outsized access to influence decision-making and incentivizing an unhealthy political interdependence.”
In her report, Wu also cited, “scandal after scandal, audit after audit," and that "the agency has lost the trust of the community to carry out the planning process with competence and integrity.” To read the full report click here or head to Wu's website -- abolishthebpda.com for more information.
