Popular coffee retailer Caffe Nero will open a new 2,400-square-foot location at Avantage Newbury, UrbanMeritage’s newly rebranded Back Bay retail portfolio set along Newbury Street. Located at 205-207 Newbury Street, the new coffee shop is set to bring a European-style coffee house experience to the vibrant shopping district, serving superior coffee, wine and beer, and fresh, deli-style pastries and sandwiches. An outdoor patio with over 55 feet of frontage along Newbury Street will provide 30 seats.

Caffe Nero operates coffee shops worldwide and has been in business since 1997. The retailer opened its’ first United States store in 2014 in Boston’s Downtown Crossing neighborhood and now operates in neighborhoods including the South End, Fort Point and Brookline Village. UrbanMeritage saw Caffe Nero as the perfect fit for Avantage Newbury, which aims to provide engaging brands with engaging retail space that meets customers where they shop today. “Since Newbury Street is Boston’s most cosmopolitan street, we wanted to bring a European style coffee house experience to Newbury,” said Avantage Newbury Principal Mike Jammen in a prepared statement. “We looked for an operator with extensive experience with neighborhood locations, and we immediately identified Caffè Nero as the best in the business.”
