Developer Lands $136.8M Loan for Bronx Affordable Housing Project

Developer, , has just obtained a $136.8 million loan for a 14-story, residential project, set to rise at 1001 Whitlock Avenue in the Bronx's Longwood neighborhood. Issued by the NYC Housing Development Corporation, this influx of capital will be used to fund all construction costs from the ground up.

The building will contain affordable housing units, with 43 of these units to be dedicated to formerly homeless adults. Plans also call for 8,610 square feet of community space (supposedly a daycare facility), located on the ground floor, a community mural, and parking spaces.

Designed by , the structure will stand feet tall and total square feet. , the in-house construction arm of , is serving as the general contractor for the build.

The project constitutes the first of two phases for "Whitlock Point"; an affordable housing complex that will bring over 500 units to the area. The second phase will be constructed on a neighboring lot at a later date. The project site at 1001 Whitlock Avenue is currently vacant and no demolition will be required before construction begins.
