Foundation Work Proceeds for 2-Building Project in Greenpoint

General contractor, , has shared new photos depicting the current state of construction at 75 Dupont Street; the site of a 2-building, residential development, set to rise in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

At this time, foundation work is already underway at the rear of the site, while excavation continues towards the center of the lot. states that "a portion of the excavation was performed under a tent with negative air pressure in order to remove decommissioned underground fuel tanks".

Developed by  and designed by , the new buildings are to contain rental apartments, with 143 of these units to be set aside for affordable housing.

Plans also call for square feet of retail space (which will see use as a grocery store), as well as an enclosed parking garage, with enough room for vehicles. The latest permit filings indicate that the development will stand 8 stories tall, and total approximately 400,000 square feet.

The project site previously consisted of 10 separate lots, the largest of which was occupied by the Harte & Company factory. The plant was used to manufacture upholstery and plastic products until it shut its doors in 2004. It then sat vacant for almost 2-decades and was finally demolished last summer.

Foundation work on the new buildings will continue through the month of July, with superstructure work set to begin next month. The project is ultimately expected to complete by the winter of 2025.
