IMAX Out, Residential In: Proposed Redevelopment at Parkridge Center
Purchased by Willard Retail and Buchanan Partners back in May for $22.5 Million, the proposal outlines that retailers with a residential component are proven to be more successful than straight retail, and states that their proposal would reenergize the struggling shopping center. Plans for the roughly 44 acre site call for 363 dwelling units, including 190 townhouses and 173 condominiums. While some retail will remain, the movie theater will be demolished as part of the project.
