Stevenson Commons Expansion Update 02/07/22

Large Expansion Approved for Bronx Affordable Complex

A major expansion has just been approved for Stevenson Commons, an affordable housing complex in the Soundview neighborhood of the Bronx. The existing complex currently consists of 9-residential buildings containing a total of 943,188 square feet and 948 affordable rental units.

Developer, Camber Property Group will construct 6 additional buildings on the property, which will add 704,000 square feet and 735 units. The expanded development will therefore total 1.65 million square feet and offer 1,683 affordable housing units.

The new buildings are being designed by WXY Architecture + Urban Design and are set to come in various sizes. Building B2 will be the tallest at 14 stories, and 138 feet tall. Construction will be carried out in three phases. Phase 1 would see the completion of buildings B4, B5, and B6, while phase 2 would add B3. Phase 3 would eventually conclude the expansion with B1 and B2. If everything goes to plan, all buildings will be finished and operational by 2028.
