Plans Evolved for 1250 U St. NW
Plans were expanded and elaborated on the development of 1250 U St in a new Planned Unit Development (PUD) filed with the DC Zoning Commission, as well as a proposed map amendment that would add height and density.
The development will consist of 117-143 new residential units, between 55-67 hotel rooms, 15 alley townhomes, and approximately 6,780 square feet of retail.
The three-bedroom townhomes will border the historic alley known as Temperance Avenue. This is a decrease in units, a potential slight increase in hotel rooms, and about the same retail space as in prior applications.
At least 15% of the units in the large residential building will be devoted to affordable housing earning up to 60% of the median family income.
A portion between the two rows of townhomes will be converted into a public pedestrian walkway, with plans to redesign and upgrade the entrance to the U Street Metro station.
