Steelwork Underway for FedEx's Maspeth Distribution Center
Steel erecting company, J.C. Steel Erectors, has shared a progress photo of their work at 55-90 48th Avenue in Maspeth, Queens; a site that will soon be home to a new FedEx Ground distribution facility.
Led by general contractor, Skanska USA, the project is well underway, with most of the structural steel framing components now in place.
Designed by BL Companies, the two-story facility is set to total square feet, which is significantly larger than the previous FedEx Ground warehouse that used to occupy the site.
The new facility represents a major upgrade as it will have 45-loading dock doors, all capable of handling full tractor-trailer setups. In addition to package handling operations on the ground floor, the building will feature administrative office space.
The structure will also have an access ramp, leading to an enclosed employee parking garage, situated on the second level. Construction began on the project back in May of 2021 and the facility is scheduled to complete by September of next year.
