UMass Boston's first student residence hall tops off at 12 stories tall
UMass Boston's first-ever on-campus student residence hall, featuring 1,077 beds and a host of amenities, has topped off at 12 stories tall. A topping-off ceremony was held at the $120 million residence hall today, during which the structure's last steel beam was lifted into place. With structural steel construction complete, concrete floor pouring is now underway on the residence hall's upper floors. Concrete floors have been poured on the building's lower floors, along which facade weatherproofing has begun. Opening in time for the Fall 2018 semester, UMass Boston's residence hall will also provide the UMass Boston community with a new ground-floor dining hall. Resident amenities will include a TV lounge, a gaming area and a study lounge.
