Proposed five-story, 132,500-square-foot mixed-use building featuring 115 apartment residences and 12,500 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Residences at the building would include studios, one-bedrooms, two-bedrooms and three-bedrooms, ranging from 558 to 1,111 square feet in size. 15 residences would be designated affordable and rented to households earning 70% or less than Area Median Income (AMI). Amenities including common space and a landscaped terrace would be located on the building’s second floor.
Retail at 5 Washington Street could include a pharmacy, as well as approximately 1,000 square feet designated as local retail leased at a discounted rate with flexible lease terms in order to support new business creation. 104 garage parking spaces would be located on site, as well as 119 bicycle storage spaces, including four for retail use, and an on-site bicycle maintenance facility. Additional outdoor bicycle racks would be provided. A new public ground-level landscaped open space with seating would be created as part of the project.
5 Washington Street is located steps from the Brookline line and across from the Brighton Whole Foods Market, a short walk from two MBTA Green Line branches and Brookline’s Washington Square. The proposed project would replace a two-story, 22,000-square-foot office building and a gasoline/service station.
